STILL LIFE~

Rolling Stone Magazine - Lana Del Rey Issue: I love Lana Del Rey and this is the only relic I have that represents her, I should really buy a CD/record or something.

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins: I love The Hunger Games trilogy and Catching is my favorite book out of the three.

Suburban Scum Tape: I was sick over the summer and missed when Suburban Scum, Harm's Way, and Expire wen to the triple nickel, so I gave Donyell money to get me something and this is what she got me.

Depeche Mode Tape: I got this at Independent for a couple bucks, I love Depeche Mode but unfortunately this tape stopped working after a few plays (it was used), so I keep it to remind myself to get a new one.

Nirvana/Nevermind Tape: I go this the same day I got the Depeche Mode tape at Independent Records, it works perfectly and I'm so happy because I love Nirvana and this tape is hard to come by.

Flat Blue Crystal: I can't remember the story behind this one, because I've had it for as long as I can remember but I think I got it at Territory Days when I was young. And I love crystals/metaphysical therapy.

Amethyst Geode: Now this one I definitely can't remember the story behind this one, but again I love crystals and geodes.

Tea-Lite Candles: I love candles and these ones were light and non-breakable.

Pearl Branch: I have a lot of random small relics from forever ago, I think I bought it from a Mexican restaurant in Barstow, CA when I was really young.

Stormtrooper Pez: I love Star Wars and candy.

DOVE EVOLUTION WRITING~

In this video, there shows a time lapse of model being make-upped and made-up in a photo enhancing software similar to photoshop. The models eyes were transformed to be larger, her neck was elongated, her round face was made into more of an oval shape, her eyes were brightened, her blemishes were removed, and this is a short list of what was enhanced on the model. This sends a message that women have to meet impossible standards set in order to be considered beautiful, when there are many different forms of beauty in the world.

PHOTOSHOP EFFECT~

I've never really thought about labeling a photoshopped image, or banning the use of the tool to beautify individuals before. I've recognized the unattainable beauty standards set for people, women in particular. But now that I'd read that article and watched that video, I think highly retouched photos should be labeled, maybe throw in a "not actual size" on the bottom of the photo or something. Just so it can be brought to the public's attention about how often they;re being deceived by false beauty. I wouldn't go so far as to ban the use of photoshop entirely, because it's extremely helpful. For example, if you had a giant pimple on your face the day you took your senior photos, you'd want it to be digitally removed, because that's not how you want your peers to remember you.

Comparing atletes using steroids to models who are photoshopped can be a fair comparison, however I don't view it the same way. Steroids are considered cheating in an athletes world, whereas every model is photoshopped, so it's not technically cheating. But it is causing a lot of insecurity for folks who don't meet up to these impossible standards. Photoshop or not, these models are beautiful people and people are always going to blame other people for their insecurities, when they should learn to overcome them. However, I have mixed feelings on this subject.

SPOT THE DIFFERENCE~

The first photo is the original photo of the Japanese garden I found on Google, the second picture is the edited version I made with 20 "spot the differences" and the third photo is the circled differences on the original photo, basically the "answer key". I used multiple tools to complete this effect and it was really fun!

COLOR WHEEL SHOOT~

Whoa look I finally finished this project! I seriously took these photos on September 30th, and I just now edited them together and I apologize for that, especially because this is a relatively easy project. I used a rainbow gradient for the background and multiple layers to place the different colored pictures on the background. I also cropped some of these photos to make the colors in them more prominent! Woooo!
